What is included: A first joint meeting (in person or by video) to take instructions from both of you. Drafting of two LPAs by Aaron, a qualified solicitor. Aaron as certificate provider for both. A second meeting to supervise the signing and witnessing. Registration of both LPAs with the Office of the Public Guardian. Storage of the original documents if you want it.
The fixed fee covers a straightforward LPA. Where a formal mental capacity assessment or medical report is needed, the doctor's fee is a third-party cost. Aaron will discuss and agree any extra cost with you before going ahead.
VAT and other costs: VAT at 20 percent is added to the fee. The Office of the Public Guardian charges £92 to register each LPA (£184 for 2), paid to the OPG with no VAT. The fee is halved for anyone whose income is under £12,000 a year, and people on certain benefits pay nothing. Drafting and signing take 1 to 2 weeks; registration takes 8 to 10 weeks (GOV.UK).

Financial protection for both of you
This service prepares a property and financial affairs lasting power of attorney (LPA) for you and your partner together. Each of you gets your own document. Aaron handles both in one process: one set of meetings, one signing appointment, one fee.
If one of you could no longer manage money, the other would need legal authority to deal with accounts, pay bills or sell property. Without an LPA, even a spouse cannot deal with an account in the other's sole name.
Doing both together costs less than the two on their own, and the two documents are drafted to work together.

What is not included
- Medical capacity assessment (per person): where there is any doubt about capacity, a formal medical opinion may be needed. The doctor or specialist sets the fee and you pay them directly.
- Unusual instructions or restrictions: conditions beyond the standard arrangements
- Replacing an attorney after registration: if circumstances change
- Changes to a registered LPA: a registered LPA cannot be amended. It has to be revoked and a new one made.
Most couples need none of these.
What happens if you do nothing
Without LPAs, if either of you loses capacity the other would have to apply to the Court of Protection. The application fee alone is £432 and a deputy pays supervision fees every year (GOV.UK). It takes months, and meanwhile neither of you may be able to reach the other's money, pay household bills or deal with joint property. Two LPAs made together avoid that.

- Health and welfare LPAs for both of you: these LPAs cover your money, not your care. A health and welfare LPA lets someone you trust make medical and care decisions too.

- Mirror wills, or wills with a trust in them: LPAs work during your lifetime; wills work after death. Doing them with your wills takes a fixed amount off the fee, once for the whole matter.

Your wills cost £150 less when your powers of attorney are done at the same time, because the meetings, identity checks and signing happen once.
Done together: £150 off when powers of attorney are done with a will, once, however many documents are made. Planning items, trust administration and probate are never discounted. Third-party costs are unchanged.
