About Strensall

What Strensall is like.

Around Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall Common, St Mary's Church and the River Foss.

Strensall is a village on the River Foss about six miles north-east of York. Queen Elizabeth Barracks, first opened as Strensall Camp in the 1880s, lies to the south. Beyond it, Strensall Common is open heathland used for training and for walking. St Mary's Church was built in the 1860s to replace an older one.

The legal work that usually comes up

Forces pension death benefits are paid under the scheme's own rules, not under the will. An unmarried partner may need to meet the scheme's conditions to receive a pension. Service personnel are asked to keep a will, and it should line up with their nominations. Keeping the two in step stops either from undoing the other.
