About Seamer

What Seamer is like.

Around Seamer station, St Martin's Church, Seamer Manor House ruins and Main Street.

Seamer is a village about three and a half miles south-west of Scarborough. Its station is where the railway lines to Hull and to York divide. St Martin's Church dates from the twelfth century, and the ruins of the medieval manor house survive. The village's old market and fair once led to long disputes with Scarborough.

The legal work that usually comes up

Not every estate needs probate. Money in joint names passes to the survivor, and banks release small balances on their own forms. A house in one name, or a share held as tenants in common, needs a grant before any sale. Sometimes the honest answer to whether a solicitor is needed is no, and Aaron will say so.
