About Elloughton
What Elloughton is like.
Around St Mary's Church, Elloughton Dale, Elloughton Road and the Wolds edge.
Elloughton is the older village half of Elloughton-cum-Brough, on the rising ground north of the town. St Mary's Church is recorded in Domesday and was restored after a serious fire in the last century. Elloughton Dale leads up from the village into the Wolds. Newer housing now joins it to Brough to the south-east.
The legal work that usually comes up
When a parent moves into a care home, the council may agree to defer the fees against the house. That deferred payment agreement is secured on the property, and interest runs on it. After the death the debt is repaid from the estate, usually when the house is sold. Executors should ask the council for the figure before agreeing a sale.
